Jakarta – The price of rice has increased. At the Cipinang Central Rice Market, Jakarta, the price of medium rice from IDR 8,000 / kilogram (kg) to IDR 8,800 / kg.
Meanwhile, premium rice increased from IDR 12,000 / kg to IDR 12,500 / kg. According to the head of the National Police’s Food Task, Setyo Wasisto, the rice price hike occurred because the price of grain.
“First, because the trade price of grain has risen in West Java (West Java), East Java (East Java), now it is between Rp. 5,800 to Rp. 6,000. When it becomes rice the price is Rp. 12 thousand,” explained Setyo to detikFinance, Monday (8/1 / 2018).
In addition, Setyo said, currently the harvest is still not evenly distributed.
“There is a harvest, but it is still sporadic in several places. The big harvest is at the end of February,” said Setyo.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Arief Prasetyo, said that the increase had started to occur since the end of 2017 for medium and premium rice.
“Medium rice, from Rp. 8,000 now to Rp. 8,800. There are also those up to Rp. 11,000 if the quality is good. Premium rice is Rp. 12,000 to Rp. 12,500.
